The Constitution Pub in Camden has a wide and welcoming beer garden which overlooks the canal where we can spend a lovely spring evening (there are heaters and a canopy in case London’s weather doesn’t cooperate). Start the new decade with the USC Alumni Club’s Winter Pub Night at Camino near King’s Cross.
Camino is gem that offers all kinds of Spanish drinks and tapas. The wine list is all-Spanish, with everything available by the glass and many interesting bottles up for grabs. Also noteworthy is the little-known Spanish beer Ambar.
Make your way down the alleyway that links Caledonian Road and York Way, and you’ll see the bar and restaurant through the glass windows. We have a section reserved at the far end of the bar.

2009
2009 started with a great turnout at the Winter Pub Night at Ye Olde Chesire Cheese - one of the oldest pubs in London.
In March, we enjoyed London Walk: Ghosts, Gaslights and Guinness with guide Richard III and a pint at The Lady Drury. We were joined by Erin and JP from the Alumni Association who were visiting London on holiday. The walk ended in Covent Garden, and many of us capped off the night at Cafe Pacifico. Towards the end of March a group of Trojan alums met up on the crowded banks of the Thames for one of London’s biggest events, the Oxford/Cambridge boat race.
For April, we saw that Londoners are figuring out what Americans have known for a long time as bowling has become very trendy in London. London’s bowling halls have a lot to offer for a fun night out, not only for bowling, but with bars and diners too.
To kick off May, London Trojans went to see Midori Goto at Wigmore Hall. Not only a distinguished international musician, but also a professor of music at USC. While the performance was entertaining as we had expected, the post performance discussion with Midori proved to be a very unique experience. We talked to her about her teaching approach, what she has been doing at USC since joining the staff, and then about her instrument (a nearly 300 year old violin)!
